Know Me Personally
Hi there, I’m Emily, and while I’ve spent quite a bit of time diving into advertising and event management programs in college, I think it’s time you got to know the ‘me’ that exists beyond lecture halls and textbooks. So, grab a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and let’s dive into my world outside the academic sphere.
First things first, I’m a bit of an event fanatic. It all started back in middle school when I realized I had a knack for throwing together themed parties that were more than just your average get-together. The earliest one I can remember was throwing a Valentine's day party for all the girls in my 6th grade class. Fast forward to today, and I’m still that person who loves to create memorable experiences. Whether it's helping out in the local music scene in Windsor or putting together a gathering, I’m all about bringing people together and creating moments that stick.
Now, let’s talk about my travel bug. I’m always on the move, hopping on a bus, a train, or a plane to someplace new. I’ve got friends scattered all over Ontario, and I’m constantly bouncing between cities. There’s something about discovering new places and meeting new people that just energizes me. Plus, who doesn’t love a good road trip playlist, right?
Creative pursuits? Oh, I’ve got plenty. My love for design and fashion isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way of life. I’m all about that “reduce, reuse, recycle” mantra, and you’ll often find me upcycling old clothes or scouring thrift shops for unique finds. It’s like a treasure hunt, but better because you get to wear your treasures! A good thrift find is great but I LOVE finding a good revival opportunity and creating something entirely new :)
Now, if you really want to know me, you need to understand my deep-rooted love for animals, especially my dog, Maddy. She’s been my furry sidekick for 13 years and counting, and honestly, she's more than just a pet; she’s a significant part of who I am. My love for dogs goes way back. I was that kid who lined up all her dog plushies at the foot of her bed each night so none would feel left out. And Maddy, she's been my dream come true. I got her when I was just 11, and from day one, she's been my companion, my confidante, and the love of my life. I taught her over 14 tricks, from the simple sit and stay to more elaborate ones. She's not just smart; she's a part of my heart. My childhood dream of training animals for movies might be in the past, but my love for Maddy and animals, in general, remains a huge part of me. She's been with me through thick and thin, a constant reminder of unconditional love and joy.
Growing up in Peterborough, Ontario, was like living in a little slice of nature’s paradise. Surrounded by lush greenery and a warm, tight-knit community, it's where my heart truly lies. Biking around Beavermead Park and exploring the Rotary Greenway Trail weren't just pastimes; they were adventures, each turn bringing a new discovery, a new story. The music festivals and community-driven initiatives there kickstarted my passion for community and events. But what stays with me the most is the sense of belonging. In Peterborough, you're not just a resident; you're part of a bigger family. People genuinely cared for each other and their city, creating an environment where everyone could thrive. This sense of community, this feeling of being part of something greater than myself, has been the foundation of my love for organizing events and bringing people together. It's a testament to the power of community, how it shapes us, and how we, in turn, shape it.
Well, that’s a little snapshot of me, Emily, outside the realm of textbooks and lecture halls. From organizing events to thrift store hunts, and from travel adventures to afternoons with Maddy, each piece of my life adds up to who I am. Thanks for sticking around to get to know me a bit better. Here’s to more adventures and stories to share!
